André Mendes, chief information officer at the Department of Commerce, announced his retirement from federal service effective at the end of the year.

Mendes, whose federal CIO career included more than eight years at the Broadcasting Board of Governors and a stint at the International Trade Administration before moving to the top tech job at Commerce, is moving back to his home state of Texas to take the position of CIO of Tarrant County, according to his announcement on LinkedIn
