Fresh Squeezed Daily: CMS Cybersecurity, Quality Reporting, & Program Integrity needs drawing interest

Updated June 4, 2023

It appears CMS  is listening (thank you to one of our Premium OS AI companies for notifying us). Over the weekend, CMS updated the June forecast document, with the newly loaded document aligning with the format CMS industry users have come to know and rely upon.

While this will now be off the table as a topic for this Wednesday’s in-person HHS & CMS Happy Hour, a slew of emerging opportunities ranging from the huge One Program Integrity opp (which we previously covered here); the $300+M Benefits Coordination & Recovery Center (BCRC); to the aforementioned CMS Cybersecurity Integration Center Operations (CCICOPS); the $28M MIDS Home Health and Hospice Quality Reporting Program Quality Measures and Assessment Instruments Development & Quality Reporting Program Oversight Support task; and the $80M+ CMS Billing System Maintenance and Modernization Opp, ensure that there will be plenty of topics to discuss.

Added June 2, 2023

If the sheer number of messages OS AI received yesterday from members of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Community related to the latest CMS forecast updates is any indication, we know what at least two of the hot topics will be at next Wednesday’s in-person HHS & CMS Happy Hour, which this month will be sponsored by Coforma.

Topic One – The very popular Opportunity Forecast document, which CMS uses to keep industry informed about the timing and related details for upcoming solicitations, is one of the more up to date and detailed forecast documents in the Federal sector today, with industry Growth leaders relying heavily on the information provided. The most recently published version of the document featured a few new changes in terms of structure. OS AI cannot and will not speak why CMS opted to change the format, but several industry leaders raised concerns about some key missing data, including the lack of an APP# (the internal solicitation number); estimated contract value and duration fields; and the lack of a Requiring Office/Program Office POC. Will this new format be permanent? Time will tell. What we do know is that CMS OAGM leadership is one of the more attentive and responsive acquisition offices among any Federal agency today, so we suspect that any important data the community has come to know and rely on will not be missing for long.

Topic Two – OS AI has been receiving inquiries related to several upcoming CMS opps, but one newly listed opportunity on the forecast that seems to be drawing A LOT of early interest is the CMS Cybersecurity Integration Center Operations (CCICOPS) requirement. Andrew Mummert is the contracting leader driving this opportunity which is expected to be awarded in January of 2024. There will be more to come from the OS AI team on this and other opportunities soon.
