CMS HH Updates – ACME BPA Challenges; WOSB Set-aside on the way; and CMS seeks new blood to drive Cybersecurity integration

Members of the OrangeSlices AI team attended Thursday’s popular in-person Federal Health Happy Hour. If you don’t go to this recurring and increasingly popular event series hosted by Shelley McGuire, you are missing out. It is always a fun and well-run event filled with valuable updates and connections added every time. (Track Shelley’s events here)

For those who were unable to attend, included below is an overview detailing some of the most relevant topics that OS AI heard at the event, including expected challenges on a $1B BPA; the call by CMS for some new blood to drive Cybersecurity Integration and Penetration Testing; and of course, a few insights related to some of the upcoming RFPs from across the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, to include a rare Woman-owned small business set-aside opp set to pop soon.

Opportunity Updates*

*Please note that this is the way OS AI heard it. If you are pursuing any of these opportunities, we encourage you to validate this information. We all know how quickly things can change. If anyone heard something different from what we provided, please message us at support@orangeslices.ai and we will make any changes necessary.

DMEPOS Licensing Verification Services (#240204 on the forecast)Gina Romano is the CO. This is currently expected to be released on the CMS PEO DIQ but as of now, that procurement has been delayed. The exact timing is still TBD, but it may not go out until the end of this year or early next year. The good news for small businesses – The plan had been to release this as unrestricted competition, but CMS is now expecting to issue a new sources sought on this IDIQ to see if any small businesses can do that work. This is your last chance for small PEO Primes (and partners) to influence the direction of this procurement.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) (#230305 on the forecast)  – Ryan Kooy is the CO. This is expected to go out as unrestricted, but there will be significant subcontracting opportunities. The acquisition package is in process and, because of the dollar value, some extra signatures are needed. No release date has been announced yet.

Medical Review Accuracy Contractor (MRAC) recompete – (#230661 on the forecast)  Jennifer Kuhn is the CO. This is expected to come out on SAM.gov in early to mid-April as 8(a) competitive.

CMS Quality Collaboration Portal (CQCP) – There are no updates yet, but the acquisition approach will be announced soon. (Read more here from OS AI on this opportunity)

Medicare Coverage Information Management Recompete (#230523 on the forecast)   – This is a WOSB Set-Aide with Sabrina Thompson serving as the CO. This is expected to go out mid to late April on GSA MAS as a Woman-Owned Small Business Set-Aside action.

CMS is looking for new blood to drive Cybersecurity integration and Penetration Testing –  If you work for a company that has some innovative ideas around one or both of these topic areas, and you are interested in seeing the statements of need, email Anita.Allen@hhs.gov to politely ask for a copy. Note: We heard that she may be out of the office today, so you may want to hold off until next week.

ACME BPA Challenges – While the protests filed in relation to this recently awarded $1B multiple-award BPA was expected by anyone close to this, this remained a hot topic with companies expressing their opinions about how quickly and easily this may end. Until then, the new awardees will be working to prepare for what will be a very competitive set of task orders to be released once all is resolved.

ATTN: Virginia-Based People – Pencil it in. Not announced yet, but on June 7th, this popular event series that focuses on bringing together industry and government leaders that support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the National Institutes of Health will be moving to Alexandria. ((Details will be posted here soon)
