The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH) has appointed Nicole Willis as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Executive Director of IT. With over two decades of experience in Federal IT leadership, Willis steps into this pivotal role to drive OASH’s technological strategy and innovation.
Bringing Deep Experience to a Critical Role
Willis joins OASH after serving as Deputy Chief Information Officer at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), where she oversaw critical IT initiatives. Before her time at NARA, Willis spent over four years at the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG), where she held roles as Chief Technology Officer and Chief Enterprise Architect. During this period, she spearheaded enterprise architecture transformation efforts, developed strategies for continuous improvement, and ensured seamless integration of new IT systems.
A Distinguished Career in Federal IT
Willis’s career includes nearly a decade at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where she served as Deputy Chief Architect and Senior Enterprise Architect. Her work at DHS involved implementing Federal Enterprise Architecture policies, streamlining IT systems to maximize efficiency, and modernizing business processes to align with strategic goals.
Prior to her time at DHS, Willis held numerous other leadership positions.
