The competitive landscape for the Federal IT and Consulting sector is dynamic, with companies entering and exiting every day for a range of reasons. A goal for any Government and GovCon leader is to identify, establish relationships with, and support firms, and their respective leaders, which are positioned to serve as the next generation of highly successful GovCon small businesses.

Every other week, we will highlight a handful of small, but rapidly emerging businesses that are NEW (have been formed and/or launched in the last few years and that should be on your radar as both a potential partner and competitor.

This week we cover four Federal new consultancies that are driving Digital Modernization, Enterprise IT, Data Engineering, Procurement Innovation, Data Science and AI/ML solutions across the Federal sector today and are poised to be major players in the months and years ahead in areas such as Enterprise Low-Code Application platforms, Federal Health IT modernization, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Engineering at Veterans Affairs, the Defense Health Agency, Homeland Security and in the Federal Financials sector.

Tusk

Launched late last year by a trio of co-founders, including CEO Karthiga Emmanual Edward, who can lay claim to experience driving Growth efforts and IT Service Delivery and Digital Modernization efforts for some of the most successful Federal contractors in DC, this woman-owned small business is quickly and quietly creating the types of certifications, alliances, and connections that indicate they are in it to win it. In addition to signing on as a SeviceNow Partner, Tusk was recently announced as one of the newest additions to the rapidly emerging Digital WOSB Alliance, a collection of leaders working to create more opportunities for women-owned, women-led small businesses to deliver digital services in government. #inittowinit #digitalservices

Agile Care Enterprises

Founded by Owner and CEO Marion Vanzie, a decorated former Defense Health Agency Cybersecurity leader and U.S. Navy Medicine CIO, it is hard not to notice the growing list of strategic Partners and clients being served by this Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Enterprise IT services consultancy that specializes in Cybersecurity, Healthcare IT, Telehealth, and Program/Project Management. The past performance that this group has gained over a very short period with organizations such as the Bureau of Navy Medicine, the U.S. Coast Guard, Veterans Affairs and the Defense Health Agency, coupled with the perspective and set of relationships that they can bring to bear, make this one of the emerging Federal Health IT companies to watch closely and get to know in the weeks and years ahead. #onetowatch #govhealth

RiverNorth

The second company we cover here which was recently inducted into the Digital WOSB Alliance, is RiverNorth, an EDWOSB IT Services company that specializes in IT modernization and Innovation projects for financial services government agencies through solution/business/data architecture, systems analysis, data analysis, process design, and project management. Led by CEO Briana Coleman and COO Thomas Coleman, a programmatic expert in the functions of federal subsidy programs, procurement law, and federal budgeting, who had a long career at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, this consultancy was recently founded on the idea of changing the entire consulting paradigm, putting it on its head, and proving that federal contracting can be different. Whether it is delivering for their clients, including DHS where it supports the OCHCO HCBS in the implementation of an enterprise payroll system, or sharing their views related to about government procurement, procurement innovation, small business initiatives and technology, it is easy to see how this company is not so quietly positioning to be a vocal leader in the GovCon community for years to come.

Hakkoda

When we see a small business BURST out of the gates, especially one that specializes in in-demand areas such as Data Science, Data Engineering, Data Analytics and ML Strategy, dbt, Data Apps, and Data Governance, we take notice. When we see that same company, who received $5.6 million in funding shortly after launching in 2021 to kickstart its mission of helping companies extend the value of their data with Snowflake’s Data Cloud, pivot to focus on the Federal market, we feel compelled to point this rapidly emerging firm out. Founded in 2021 by a seasoned team who has built and scaled global services organizations at companies like Appirio, Deloitte, KPMG, and McKinsey, this data engineering consultancy which specializes in Snowflake, while providing on-demand access to data engineers, architects, machine learning, and application development experts, should be on the short list of potential partners and competitors for any, opportunity that requires Snowflake expertise. #momentum #snowflake
